To edit fiction, you need to understand the techniques that are integral to good fiction writing. In this class you will learn the different components of a work of fiction that must be present in both short stories and full-length novels.
In this course, we will cover the following:
Floating Body Parts
Scene and chapter breaks
The five senses and beyond
Metaphors, mixed metaphors, similes, malapropisms, spoonerisms, and hyperbole
Foreshadowing, flash-forwards, and red-herrings
Prologues and Epilogues
Purple prose and stilted writing
Instructor Jeanne Marie Leach is the author of five fiction books and one non-fiction writers’ help book. She is a full-time freelance editor, who lives in Colorado with her husband of 39 years and their large Alaskan Malamute who weighs 125 lbs. She enjoys teaching workshops for beginning writers and has mentored numerous authors who have since gone on to win writing awards and are now published authors. She is the Coordinator for The Christian Pen, and a member of Christian Editor Network and the American Christian Fiction Writers.
