By Jayna Baas and Kathy Ide

In recent PEN Tips articles, you may have noticed a change in terms. Christian Editor Network, our parent organization, is now Christian Editors Association!

What’s in a name? In this case, a number of factors influenced the change. The CEA team, led by founder and owner Kathy Ide, opted to remove Network from the name because this parent organization doesn’t directly offer networking. We also felt that Association would eliminate confusion with The Christian PEN: Proofreaders and Editors Network and would better reflect the mission and structure of this organization for editors.

The name change took effect on September 1, 2022, but this organization has been committed to equipping and empowering Christian editors since 2016. CEA includes not only The Christian PEN but also its sister divisions: PENCON, Christian Editor Connection, The PEN Institute, and the new Editors’ Choice Award (formerly the Excellence in Editing Award).

If any of those divisions are unfamiliar to you, we invite you to visit the CEA website and explore the wide range of benefits we offer to Christian editors. Merriam-Webster’s Dictionary defines association as “an organization of persons having a common interest,” and that’s what we are! We look forward to supporting and encouraging the world of Christian editors as we move forward under this new name.

Thank you for subscribing to PEN Tips! We hope you continue to enjoy the education, tips, and inspiration we offer.
