The Christian PEN: Proofreaders and Editors Network is the membership division of Christian Editor Network, a community of like-minded professionals who share their knowledge and experience with one another. PEN’s mission statement is “empowering established and aspiring editors with networking and community.”
PEN started in 2004, when founder Kathy Ide had a vision “to provide freelance proofreaders and editors with a venue for cooperative competition through mutual support and the exchange of information, leads, and resources.”
All our members get discounts on
- The Chicago Manual of Style online,
- unlimited courses at The PEN Institute,
- and PENCON (our annual conference)
In addition, all PEN members receive our monthly e-newsletter and are eligible to join the PEN-Prayer loop.
PEN offers three levels of membership to suit different freelance needs. The benefits listed above begin with our Bronze level. The Silver level includes our private email loop that is very active with Q&A and members’ support, as well as additional savings on a PerfectIt annual license and opportunities to write for our PEN Tips blog and for our newsletter, Network News. The Gold level requires eligibility and acceptance into Christian Editor Connection (CEC)—which is included in the membership cost.
