Christian Editors Association is the parent organization of PEN Tips, our blog about freelance Christian editing. CEA’s motto is “equipping and empowering Christian editors.”
CEA, formerly Christian Editor Network, comprises four divisions: The Christian PEN (PEN), Christian Editor Connection (CEC), The PEN Institute (PI), and PENCON. All these divisions are committed to equipping, empowering, and encouraging editors in the Christian market. CEA also sponsors the annual Editors’ Choice Award (ECA), which recognizes excellence in writing and editing.
Kathy Ide, CEA owner and manager, founded each of the above divisions and created Christian Editor Network in 2016 to unify them under one umbrella. Christi McGuire and Jennifer Acevedo were partners with Kathy from fall 2016 to May 2019. The name was changed to Christian Editors Association in 2022 to better represent the purpose of the organization. Kathy currently has a team of directors for each division as well as coordinators and assistants to support and serve Christian editors. Becky Antkowiak, CEA Assistant Director, works with Kathy to oversee CEA operations.
CEA actively supports over 200 members in PEN, 60 editors in CEC, dozens of professional editorial courses in PI, and virtual conferences along with dozens of recordings of past sessions in PENCON.
